Minnesota Branch AALAS Awards

Do you know someone who is a good worker? Someone who gets along with everyone and inspires others? Someone who constantly strives to improve themselves, their work or their jobsite? Well, you may know our next Technologist/Technician of the Year, Outstanding Branch Contributor or Outstanding Vendor!

Technician of the Year: Demonstrates a positive attitude and dedicated approach to the betterment of animal care through technical performance and education; Participates in the AALAS Certification process; Assists in training of fellow technicians; Promotes and participates in continuing animal care related education; Suggests ideas to alleviate animal distress, enhance facility management, and decrease animal numbers.

Technologist of the Year: Demonstrates outstanding accomplishments in administration, education, or support programs related to the care, quality, or humane treatment of animals used in biomedical research. The nomination should review the accomplishments in improving the quality of care and use in animal research or someone who has received AALAS certification at the Technologist level would be eligible for this award. The award consists of a plaque and a cash honorarium.

Patrick J. Manning: This award is in memory of the late Patrick J. Manning, director of Research Animal Resources at the University of Minnesota from 1974 to 1994. He was active in both National and Minnesota Branch AALAS and a leader in Laboratory Animal Medicine. The nominee is dedicated to the field of laboratory animal science and its betterment, with a special commitment to the local branch and its membership. This commitment and support can include, but is not limited to: local branch support and promotion (including activity on the board or committees); attending local programs; encouraging others to become active AALAS members; supporting AALAS education; providing certification training ; and contributing time and/or money to the local branch. The award consists of a plaque and a cash honorarium.

Vendor Award: Recognition from the MN AALAS Branch for vendors/sponsors that support the MN Branch of AALAS.
